SAN FRANCISCO BUSINESS TIMES: 181 Fremont goes beyond code, a selling point in wake of Millennium Tower mess

The interior finishings in the 67 residential units atop the 181 Fremont luxury condominium skyscraper, now under construction next to the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco, will contain a veritable United Nations of materials designed to catch the eye of high-end buyers: marble from Tuscany, wood from Papua, New Guinea, brass custom made in Paris, quartz from Brazil, and Portuguese porcelain tile.

But the most important details may not be contained inside the residences — it’s the structural engineering that makes the building one of the most resilient tall structures on the West Coast.
