Watch the Latest Episode of 181 Fremont’s Legends of Design Film Series Featuring David Oldroyd of ODADA
181 Fremont is proud to present the latest episode in its Legends Of Design series, which spotlights the best in interior design, art and craftsmanship within our award-winning building.
In this episode, David Oldroyd, Principal and owner of the award-winning San Francisco design firm ODADA, discusses the process, inspiration and unique challenges behind 181 Fremont’s bespoke interiors and sophisticated model residences. Moderating the interview is best-selling author, design lecturer and feature writer Diane Dorrans Saeks.
Among the many inimitable features of 181 Fremont’s residences are the sweeping bay, bridge and skyline views. While they are a central focus of every home, Oldroyd and the ODADA team configured the interiors to reveal these views slowly as owners arrive and move through the space. “There was a conscious effort to make the view unfold itself to you,” says Oldroyd. “Which, I think, is a more romantic way to enter your home.”
When it comes to the interior design details, Oldroyd balances the building’s distinct structural elements with contemporary and classic pieces as well as a carefully curated selection of natural materials to create a timeless aesthetic. And while lively at-home entertaining is a key element of each home’s configuration, Oldroyd and the ODADA team strived to make every residence feel inviting and calming—like a true refuge above the city. “We don’t want to overstimulate you here,” he notes. “We want you to come home and feel restful and held, cozy and warm and secure.”
181 Fremont is a feat of design and ingenuity best experienced in person.
