WALL STREET JOURNAL: San Francisco Penthouse Seeks Record $42 Million
San Francisco is renowned for its charming Victorian houses, but the new luxury condos at 181 Fremont are bringing new height, modern style, and record-breaking prices to SoMA. The development’s penthouse, which occupies the entire 70th floor of the building, is asking $42 million—a figure that would shatter records if it sells at or near that price. According to Matt Lituchy, chief investment officer of 181 Fremont’s developer, the Jay Paul Company, the penthouse will be the tallest residence west of the Mississippi when it’s completed in 2018. Topping out at 802 feet, 181 Fremont will add to the evolving skyline of San Francisco. The penthouse at 181 Fremont will occupy 6,941 square feet and offer spectacular panoramic views of the city, including San Francisco icons like the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges. It’s designed for entertaining and comfort, with interiors by award-winning designer Orlando Diaz-Azcuy. Wishing no detail to be overlooked, Diaz-Azcuy traveled the world in search of fine materials for the interior and ultimately sourced hand-forged wall sconces, bronze door handles, and exotic paldao wood from New Guinea for the entry door, as well as six different kinds of marble from Italy.
