THE REGISTRY BAY AREA REAL ESTATE: Facebook Takes All of 432,000 Square Feet of Commercial Space at 181 Fremont in San Francisco
181 Fremont, the new mixed-use tower developed by the Jay Paul Company, will welcome Facebook as its commercial tenant. The 70-story building has 432,000 square feet of commercial space that sits beneath 67 luxury residences with interiors by Orlando Diaz-Azcuy. Having topped out in December 2016, 181 Fremont will be completed in the first half of 2018. The structure is a leading light in innovative architecture, designed with a high-tech exoskeleton in a striking sawtooth pattern. Aside from its decorative appeal, the exoskeleton is part of 181 Fremont’s resilient design, which will help protect it from seismic activity. 181 Fremont is the first mixed-use, LEED Platinum-precertified building in San Francisco. It features a state-of-the-art water recycling system, a pedestrian-friendly lobby, bike storage, and a dramatic glass-curtain wall that maximizes natural light. The building’s retail space directly connects it to the Salesforce Transit Center’s elevated City Park.
