SFIST.COM: Facebook Finally Comes To SF, Leases Entire Office Portion Of 181 Fremont

After early reports in June that Facebook was adding a corporate office in San Francisco, the company has confirmed that it has signed a lease for 436,000 square feet of office space in 181 Fremont, the new luxury SoMa condominium building developed by Jay Paul Company. Facebook’s lease at 181 Fremont is the largest in the city in three years: they will inhabit many floors of the building, and between 2,000 and 3,000 Facebook staff will work there. 181 Fremont was designed by Heller Manus Architects and has a highly innovative system of zigzag seismic reinforcements; these are designed to protect the tower from seismic activity but also give its exterior an attractive geometric design.
